For Today is an inspirational, hardcore metalcore Christian band that originally formed in Sioux County, Iowa in the year 2005. The band members consist of Mattie Montgomery (lead singer), Ryan Leitru (lead guitarist), David Puckett (drums), and Brandon Leitru (bass guitar).

The Christian band, clearly not like other bands, has touched on the issues of human trafficking and the destructive condition that the world is in.

Montgomery, a powerful and moving lead singer, along with his band members in the song “Fight The Silence”, sings about how we ignore the people who are being beaten, sold, and tortured. He sings this song because he wants the world to listen and become aware of the issue, which is the exploitation of innocent human beings. These people cannot fight for themselves so he says that they will fight for them. This song is dedicated to the silent people who can’t speak up for themselves. This band gives a voice to the voiceless and gives hope to the hopeless. The voice of the band and others can bring the worldwide suffering to an end if they just open up their eyes and take action against what is an inhumane practice. The band’s goal is to inspire people to take action on this issue and help fight the silence.

The song “Fight The Silence” is one of the most passionate and moving pieces of musical art I have ever listened to just because it touches on an issue that most people ignore and you can hear the anger in the music itself and the lead singer’s voice. This band is furious that we have let this cruel act go on for such a long period of time. They want us to end it with them and I support them 100%.

In another song, “Break The Cycle”, the band basically sings about how we are self-destructive. We have this cycle that never changes and it is leading us to our demise. We need to break the cycle or we will be completely destroyed. There is hope and there is a new day dawning, the darkness will flee, according to the band. The song calls on everyone listening to rise up with the band and break the cycle. It calls on everyone to change humanity’s ways and their own ways that is leading to this destructive lifestyle or reality. Change the direction of the world’s fate as a whole and the people of the world’s fate.

For Today uses their magnificent and truthful music to inspire people like me (activists) who are willing to fight for multiple causes that include human trafficking to raise our voices louder and don’t back down. Not many artists or bands sing about issues going on in the world and to know that a band like For Today is aware and angry, it really gives me and other people hope. It makes us feel like we are not alone. We are not the only ones who are furious about the suffering that is ongoing in the world. Music in general has a huge impact on people, especially in society, and to know that this band is trying to make a difference in this world really means something. There are not many really good people in this world that care and that are willing to write musical pieces about what is wrong but For Today is one of those bands that is not afraid. In my opinion, they are one of the greatest musicians ever!
