Tonight Alive, the rock band from Sydney, Australia, has only been gaining momentum since their formation in 2008. In fact, their seven year anniversary was this past Sunday on June 31.

The group consists of members Jenna McDougall (vocals), Matt Best (drums), Jake Hardy (guitarist), Whakaio Taahi (guitarist) and Cam Adler (bassist), all of which joined American pop punk band, All Time Low, on their Future Hearts tour.

One of three opening acts, Tonight Alive (most especially McDougall with her noteworthy vocals) had no trouble getting the crowd up on their feet and belting back the lyrics they soon grew to love, if they hadn’t already. Even prior to their performance, fans had been heavily anticipating their arrival on stage –if the stream of excited yells asking them to come out first had anything to say about it.

The band puts a heavy focus on positivity, of there being a silver lining to everything, and McDougall –a vegan and advocate of human life being equal to animal life–stresses the importance of always doing good. Not only that, but, to never let yourself be brought down by others. That mindset is clear in one of the band’s hit songs, “WHAT ARE YOU SO SCARED OF?” and especially when they had the crowd chant the following mantra:

“From this day on, I refuse to live in fear of someone else’s judgement.”

Several of their songs, like “Lonely Girl” and “The Edge” have millions of views on YouTube, and the latter song might be due to it’s being part of the The Amazing Spider Man 2 Soundtrack back in 2014.

Despite that fact, however, a lot of people have yet to hear of the band, but, usually when they do listen to them, they are pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoy their music (except for those who complain that they’re copying Paramore, for no reason other than having a female vocalist).

Many fans have even said that Tonight Alive has saved their lives and gotten them through difficult times, to which Mcdougall happily says, “To be that band for people is amazing because it was music that got us through difficult times ourselves.”

If you’re interested in listening to Tonight Alive, they are working on releasing their third album later this year, and, you can check out their music in one of the following links: YouTube, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Bandit.fm!
