This past week, New Milford High School Knights’ senior running back Christian Correa ran through the Hawthorne Bears without any hesitation. Correa carried the ball 37 times for 261 yards, with three touchdowns and a long eight minute drive to carry the Knights to their first road win.

Defensive tackle/right tackle Yoel Figuereo (‘17) has a lot to say about Correa and his ability to run the rock. Figuereo stated, “I’m really confident with Correa running the ball, he never stops his feet which is really important. Correa is really aggressive when the ball is in his hands and tries to score every time. [He] is our safety blanket on the offensive side of the ball and we’re always successful with him in the backfield and his ability to lead us on offensive.”

Head coach Billy Wilde has high hopes in the Knights’ upcoming season and challenges. “We are a very talented football team with athletes. Correa had a great game against Hawthorne’s defense due to the heat and the rain [that] night. He’s a great runner, is in good shape and was able to power through the challenges. Both the offensive and defensive lines played great which really made me happy and ultimately got the job done. We’re past Hawthorne, and now we’re onto our bye week to get healthy and to prepare for Queen Of Peace on Friday September 23 at New Milford High School, kick off at 7,” explained Wilde.

Junior wide receiver/free safety Nick Klein (‘18) has high hopes in his senior running back. “Correa is an all-round workhorse, he never shies away from contact. He’s one of our best chances of winning by carrying majority of the offensive load, which opens up the passing game. I have high hopes in our running game this year, we have the same line just with better chemistry.”

Come support the Knights Sept 23 at 7 @ New Milford High School while they take on the Queen of peace Griffins.
