For those of you out there who are struggling to figure out what to get your friends or family members as a present for the upcoming holidays, or if you’re just struggling with your budget (like me), this just happens to be the place where you can get some creative ideas to make your own presents instead!

  • Movie Night in a Bag

Either using a small gift bag or sewing an old piece of cloth together and tying it at the top, with this gift you can put the person’s favorite movie, a bag of popcorn and a few packs of hot chocolate for the perfect winter movie night!

  • Printed Candles

For people that find that there are certain phrases or there are just things that they feel they need to say that they just can’t speak out loud, here’s your reprieve.

All you need is a white or ivory candle, a non-toxic ink pad, and a large printed rubber stamp. For specific instructions on how to recreate this gift just go to http://sparkleandhay.blogspot.com/2011/02/real-wedding-inspiration-projects-diy.html

  • Sharpie Mug

Everyone has that one (or more) family member that just can’t go through the day without their cup of coffee.  Why not create a cup made just for them? It’s simple but heartfelt since you’re taking into consideration that they truly do need their cup o’ joe to function.

What you’ll need for this project is a plain white mug, a pack of sharpies (or just one color if you know what color you’d like to use). Draw your design, let it dry overnight, then bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for a half hour. • Paper Bag Booklets

For something thoughtful and creative, I would suggest going this route. This simple gift can be very touching to give to an older sibling or a parent or aunt/uncle, taking them down memory lane and reminding them that you are thankful to have someone as special as them in your life.

For this gift you’ll need small paper bags (that you would bag your lunch with) and proceed to cut the tops off of a few to have them be around a 3×5 rectangle, then glue the folded end of the bag and fold the entire thing in half to create your booklet. Staple the right side of the booklet in the middle, use more staples if needed. You can then proceed to decorate the book by filling it with photos, inspiring quotes or even memories that you are fond of that include the person you are giving this gift to. • Bath Bombs

For those friends and family members who need to relax and calm down every once in a while, bath bombs are definitely a great helping hand. As you’re filling your bathtub you toss in one or two and it fills your bathroom with the lovely scent that helps relax you as you sit in your bathtub. What you’ll need is 8 ounces of baking soda, 4 ounces of corn starch, 4 ounces of epsom salt, 4 tablespoons of cream of tartar and combine these dry ingredients. You will then need ¾ tablespoons of water, 2 tablespoons of essential fragrance of oil, 2 ½ tablespoons of vegetable oil, 1 or 2 drops of food coloring and then proceed to mix both the wet and dry ingredients. Pack the mixture into a plastic ornament so it’ll be a ball and let dry overnight! I hope these 5 gifts can help you make the upcoming holidays better and save you some money this winter. Have a great holiday season!
