With Spring coming full speed ahead, a lot of people are trying to think of some spring cleaning ideas to change up their normal routine and to welcome the warm weather that most have been waiting forever on. Well, I’ve come to help with that!
Create a Different Mood
With the new season should come some new furnishings, meaning that the dark bedding and curtains you’ve had for the long season of winter should be replaced with something a bit brighter and lighter. Changing according to the season always helps. Creating a very subtle spring or fresh summer vibe can make your home very welcoming rather than keeping that dark winter vibe that you’ve had for the past few months.
Dust and Polish Everything
When cleaning your home, don’t do your normal routine. Make this a very thorough cleaning. That being said, move whatever furniture you can and dust and wipe everything (Pledge Multi-Surface Wipes work very well). Wipe down the walls in your home as well. Polish all stainless steel appliances, I use Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes. You can also either do a power wash if you have a rug or you can wax and buff if you have wooden or tile flooring. Waxing your floors is definitely recommended, it will bring out the cleanliness and shine that has dimmed over time, which you will appreciate seeing daily and you may even receive compliments from family and friends that are invited over in the near future.
Wash Window Screens
Using warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid, use a brush to scrub each screen and then rinse thoroughly.
Go through your closet and get rid of unused shoes, clothes and accessories. Your closet will look more appealing and if you want to organize it further, you can organize it by color or by the things you choose to wear during the day and at night,
Rotate Your Bed
Turn your mattress over to distribute the wear evenly to both sides. Also make sure to either wash or get new pillows every few months, I tend to gravitate towards Target’s pillows since they’re super fluffy.
Check Your Fire Detectors
Make sure to change the batteries in your smoke detectors at least twice a year and make sure they are dust-free to ensure they work properly. Also remember to keep a fire hydrant handy somewhere in your home.
I hope these tips help with your spring cleaning endeavor and you definitely won’t regret it! If you have any questions or comments make sure to leave them below or contact me at [email protected] 🙂
