The Spring Musical is here.  New Milford High School is proud to be presenting our annual Spring Musical, this year being Shrek the Musical. It is being directed by Hannah M’ Lynn (’13).

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and shows are at 7:00p.m. at the James Africano Auditorium on March 23, 24, and 25, 2017.

The show has been having events in preparation for some time now. The musical held an Alumni Benefit Concert on March 11 to raise money for the Spring Musical. At the end of the concert, the musical cast came out and gave a preview of the show, which brought the excitement for the show to an all time high. On March 19, the musical hosted a “Shrek the Musical” Cast Character Breakfast, where members of the cast dressed up as their characters and acted for guests.

“Shrek the Musical” is set in a mythical land, and follows Shrek, an outcast, who decides to live in a swamp alone in bliss. In time, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters are pushed into his sanctuary, by Lord Farquaad. Shrek strikes a deal to try to save his abode, and while fighting to save his home Shrek makes new friends and transforms. You’re going to have to watch the musical to find out more!

Everyone is very excited about the musical.

Madison Ryan (’19) is returning to the musical cast for her second year. She said, “We have worked insanely hard for the musical. It is always amazing to see people come out to support us after the months of hard work we have put in. We are like a family.”

Jill Maniago (’17) has been involved in the musical for three years at New Milford High School. She said, “Being in the musicals for three years has been a crazy, but memorable time. From the rush of adrenaline before going on stage, to goofing around with the cast and crew, I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.”

Mrs. Schwartz said, “The musical is wonderful. The kids are having a great time. Since we had twenty three seniors leave last year, this is the first time any cast member has had the opportunity for a lead. It is a very young cast this year. We are happy to have a lot of freshman and sophomores. I am proud of them all. Buy your ticket for Shrek, you won’t be disappointed.”

The musical is here and like every year it will be a show to remember.
