Movie Review: The Fate of the Furious

Jefrin Mathew, Writer

The large fan base of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise eagerly anticipated the eighth installment in the series–and they were not disappointed. Released in 69 different countries, the film–and the series–appeals mostly to people who love cars. The plot focuses on the whole team attempting to return to–and live–a normal life until chaos rips them apart and they are forced to face an unexpected challenge together.

Starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, Jackson Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson, our characters travel to Cuba, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Iceland, and of course, the United States. Directed by F. Gary Gray and produced by star Vin Diesel, the film was well-received by audiences,  where according to Google Survey, ninety percent of audiences liked the movie.

The movie was filmed on a budget of $250 million–and was set to recoup that as it was projected to pull in between $275-330 million, which was easily accomplished as it posted one of the biggest box offices of 2017.

Overall, the film was a testament to the strength of the series as it focused on the use of various supercars and a completely unexpected climax with the use of a submarine in the Arctic.
